Holistic yoga retreats for everyone

A retreat from the day-to-day

Your retreat will be first and foremost a holiday, a retreat from the day-to-day, with all the good things that this beautiful part of the world has to offer: delicious local produce, including wine from the organic village vineyard, breath-taking landscapes, off-the-beaten-track hikes, and of course the experience of French culture from the inside, and lots of socialising and laughing.

When physical tensions are released, real relaxation can occur: physical relaxation, but also rest for the mind. This opens a space where we can be ourselves.

What to bring

Comfortable shoes that have a good grip and support your ankles for the walks - if you have running shoes that fit that description, those suffice.

If possible please also bring a comfortable backpack for the walk.

Sunscreen and sunglasses, a hat, and, in the early days of spring and late in the autumn, a windproof jacket and/or a rain mac.

In the summer months, or indeed if you want a refreshing dip in the river waters in other seasons in your free time, bring swimming suits. Water shoes would also be useful for this purpose.

The nearest ATM is a 15 minute walk downhill to the lower part of our village. It’s fine to go there, but coming back up might take a little longer! There is however a bus. It would be advisable to bring cash if you mean to spend some in the village.

Organic biodynamic wine from the village winery is served free of charge on 3 of the evenings when a member of the frogs’ house team hosts you. On the two evenings when we provide the dinner but the guests eat without the frogs house team, wine is available for you to purchase: we operate an honesty bar.

Massages are organised between you and independent practitioners. They do not accept card payments. If you intend to book a massage, please bring cash for payment.

Additional nights

It is possible to arrive a day early or leave a day after the end of retreat, or indeed to do both. Please note that this extra night will be at an additional cost that depends on your chosen accommodation option, and that there is no retreat programme, nor are there any meals provided during these extra days before or after retreats. We will of course be happy to provide information about places to eat and things to do during your additional stays at the frogs’ house. Additional nights can be reserved on the booking page where the correct price will be displayed according to the accommodation and dates chosen.

What you don’t need to bring

The water in saint-Jeannet comes from under the hills we can see from our rooms. It is crystal clear and of high quality. It is treated right next to the source and pumped in our pipes. You don’t need to buy bottled water. We can provide you with metal water bottles that you can keep for the duration of your stay here.

There is no need to bring a yoga mat, unless you really want to use your own. We also provide blocks and small stools to sit on if you need them, and blankets for comfort in yoga sessions. As the focus of our yoga sessions is not “achieving postures” we do not provide props such as belts, wall fixings, backless chairs etc.

Towels, including beach towels and basic but high quality organic toiletries are provided.

The frogs’ house will provide backpacks and walking sticks when you need them.

Daily yoga and meditation practice

Through daily yoga and meditation practice, as well as outdoor activities and workshops, you will be able to reconnect with your body and mind. Every session is an opportunity to practise being mindful: to come back to yourself, connect to the here and now, become more present... and discover who you truly are and what you really want in life.

So while a step back from the day-to-day, our retreats are not a bubble of bliss that bursts soon after you return to your daily life. Instead, we hope you will take the retreat with you and use the tools you’ve gathered here to stay connected to your own inner sense of peace, joy, and love, which are always there, because they are you.

Level

There is no prerequisite to joining our retreats. Whether you have been practising for many years or just discovering the practice, it doesn’t matter. Our teachers are experts at delivering sessions that are suited to the needs and abilities of the guests of each week, who often come with a variety of age and experience. We practise what we preach; ready to adapt to the present moment.

Language

Most of our retreats are in English. However, our team is bilingual and would welcome your speaking with them in French, even during our English language retreats. In 2025, we will have 4 retreats exclusively in French. Please only join them if you have a level of French of intermediate or above and are happy conversing in French. If you do choose to come to these retreats to practise your French, please note that guests who have chosen these retreats have done so specifically because they wish to take part in a retreat where not only the instruction, but also the social conversation happens in French. So please be ready to speak French all the time!

Upcoming French-language retreat start dates are:

27 April 2025, 17 August 2025, 24 August 2025, 26 October 2025
