Why ?

Why have a retreat at the frogs’ house?

Slow down

At the frogs’ house, first and foremost, we invite you to slow down, to take a step back from the habits and reflexes of the day-to-day, and to make space for yourself.
Once you have slowed down, little by little a real state of rest will settle in; a true rest for the body and mind.

Rest is the primary effect of coming to a retreat here.

Rested, we let ourselves see that the peace, calm, and happiness that we are always looking for, are actually always available to us, everywhere and all the time.

We feel them just as soon as we manage to let our mind rest and let go of the thoughts that we believe define us.

We see what’s already here, and has always been here: our essence of peace, joy, and love; who we really are.

We accept ourselves

Unity

And as we accept ourselves, the feeling of “me” as disjointed from the rest of the world gradually gives way to a sense of connectedness. “Unity” is the meaning of the Sanskrit term “Yog”, the origin of the term “Yoga”.

Body, Mind and Spirit

In this state of body, mind and spirit, it feels natural to apply the teachings of yoga: a non-violent attitude, openness and honesty towards oneself and others, contentment in place of envie, ethical conduct in all areas of our lives, increased interest in learning, and attention to the immaterial part in each of us and in all around us.

We at the frogs’ house are ourselves all learning.

Minimise our impact on the environment

We respect all things living

On our way, we do our best to minimise our impact on the environment as much as possible and to respect all things living. This translates to concrete actions and decisions in the type of activities that we offer, the food that we serve, and how we relate to each other in our team and to our friends and neighbours in our local community. We try to be aware of what is within us, and what is around us - the two being of course thoroughly connected.

To adhere to the yogic way of life in its fullness

In practice, to adhere to the yogic way of life in its fullness, we do our best to promote local production, a circular economy, responsible farming, respect of biodiversity, and the reduction of our impact on the environment. To this end, we are proud to have been holders of a “Green Key” award since 2011, renewed by annual review and a 3-yearly full audit.
